a little bit about me
Hey, I’m Jae. Born and educated artist turned award winning designer, my professional background includes graphic design and creative direction roles in the agency, in-house and independent settings. As an artist I work in traditional collage and explore themes related to queer identity, political activism, and mental health.

art statement
My name is Jae (she/they) and I am an artist and designer based in the Midwest. I work with the medium of analog collage, and I especially enjoy using recycled, vintage materials. These tattered books, magazines, and publications connect me to the past and tell stories that extend beyond the art created from them.
I want my artwork to be a place for discussion. My goal is to restore our child-like tendency to see stories between the images. To that end, my work features images composed in a variety of ways. The associations we draw are unique to us as individuals–as unique as the set of experiences we each carry with us. I want my art to inspire conversations about our differences, and I hope these conversations give rise to increased empathy for one another. I dream of bringing people closer together through the things I create.
